Our Dancing Through the Decades event was a big success on Saturday night! Many thanks to everyone who helped make the night so much fun! Everyone looked great dressed in the outfits from each decade. Take a look at the pictures posted!

We are thrilled to announce that our Video Conference Center is open for business! We had a conference for the students in Grade 1 today to celebrate the 100th day of school! We have traveled to Minnesota and Kansas to date on video conferences. Our pre-K students enjoyed a visit to some Arctic animals to highlight their recent unit. Students in Grade 3 enjoyed a conference on rocks and minerals this week. Grade 5 traveled to Maryland to learn about the Chesapeake River Estuary. Students in Grade 7 will explore Sacred Art in a video conference with the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Our students and teachers are busy adding to their knowledge through these interactions. We look forward to having you join us when your child's class has a conference scheduled.

Thank you for your timely return of your reregistration materials. Please be aware that a check must be included in order to complete the registration process.

Don't forget to file for transportation for the 2012-2013 school year. Forms are availble through your home district and must be returned no later than March 31st.

Forms for the 2012 NYSSMA competition are available in the office.
Please let us know if you would like one.
All musicians, pianists and singers are eligible to participate.

Tomorrow's Hope applications are available in the office. Kindly send a note or an e-mail to Mrs. Durkin requesting one. Tomorrow's Hope provides tuition assistance to families for Catholic education.

Congratulations to Alex Bracco--who has been awarded a full tuition scholarship to St. Francis Prep! Many, many partial scholarships and Honors Program placements awarded to other eighth graders as well--Scholarships to Sacred Heart Academy, Chaminade, Holy Trinity, OLMA, St. Mary's, St. Dominic! Thanks too, go to their teachers, for all of their hard work!

Notre Dame School is on the forefront of technology. Our students are using iPads for research as well as other classroom activities. The number of educational apps is astounding and our teachers and students are certainly enjoying this new technology. Three families recently gifted our school with six additional iPads, bringing the total number to fourteen! Our building is now wireless, so students are able to use the laptop carts and iPads in their classrooms!

You will notice that there are links directing you to two new shops at which you may order special Notre Dame merchandise.

From the Principal

Things are very busy in the hallways of Notre Dame School! Many thanks to those families who recommended Notre Dame School to a friend or neighbor.

Our eighth graders performed spectacularly on the High School Entrance Exam, earning more than $270,000 in scholarship money! Each Wednesday, the eighth graders proudly wear their new high school sweatshirts. The received their rings during a prayer service on February 1st and enjoyed a lovely luncheon afterward.

Our Video-conferencing room is getting a workout! Conferences have been booked for all grades and the ones that we have enjoyed have been terrific! Watch the school calendar for specifics and remember that you are welcome to join us when your child's class has one scheduled. (If you are not able to do that, please call Mrs. Breen if you are able to stop in during another grade's conference.) Our Indoor Playspace is also open for business just in time for the cold weather! Our Early Childhood students are happy to have a place to go for some indoor play during the colder months.

Please keep our Early Childhood program in mind. Perhaps your friend or neighbor is looking around for a wonderful Pre-K or Nursery program. Inquiries may be directed to our school office.

We have hosted several Open Houses during the past few months and are happy to give personal tours to interested families. Our registration is healthy and we continue to conduct registration on a rolling basis.

Remember--wouldn't it be terrific if every family brought a family?
