Tuition will no longer be handled through our school office.  Follow the link below to set up your tuition account and to view all of the payment options.  You may continue to pay tuition monthly or choose to pay in full at the beginning.  Payments will begin in August and continue through May.  Credit cards will now be accepted-although there will be a convenience fee added.

My thanks to those families who have signed up for the program.  If you have not done so, please click the link below and enroll for the plan. Feel free to email me with questions.  Remember that you may not be classified as Plan A unless you have completed the background check and taken the VIRTUS class.

The month of May is certainly a busy one in the halls of Notre Dame School!  We began the month with the celebration of First Eucharist for our second grade students on May 3.  Bishop Brennan came on May 6 to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation for our grade 8 students.  May 8 found our smallest students hosting a "Muffins with Mom" party.  They sang special songs and enjoyed a mini-breakfast.  They then joined the rest of our students in the gym to shop for that special someone at the Mothers' and Fathers' Day Boutique!  Our annual Blue and White Games began on Monday, May 12, with the grade 6 Greek Olympics.  Keen competition will follow all week, with the eighth graders and the teachers facing off on Thursday evening!  All are welcome! Thursday morning at 11 AM Grades 2 and 8 will host the annual May Crowning.  We will crown the beautiful statue of Mary which greets us each day.  Saturday, May 17 finds the Mock Trial Team at St. John’s University School of Law for their annual inter-scholastic competition.  Saturday evening Grades 1 and 8 will host The Buddy Fashion Show.  Upcoming events include our annual school picnic on May 23rd ,our Spring Concert on May 22, our Spring Band Concert on May 28 and our Drama Club’s performance of Alice In Wonderland on May 30 and May 31!

Please be sure to notice our new sign at the front doors of our school!  Many thanks to the parents who supported us at our auction, especially those who "Stood up for Notre Dame!"

Please note:  If your child is absent from school, a call should be made to Mrs. Dumas, our school nurse, the morning of the absence. In addition to the phone call, all students require a note when they return to school stating the reason for the absence.  If a note is not submitted within a week of the absence, the child's absence will be marked as an unexcused.  We appreciate your cooperation and compliance with this school policy.

The Diocese of Rockville Centre recognizes that background information including criminal history record checks are a critical element in ensuring the safety of children and protecting them from inappropriate actions or behaviors of others.

All potential volunteers of Notre Dame School must complete a background check. In addition, volunteers must attend a Virtus training session. If you participate in Virtus at a site other than Notre Dame, please send to the school office a copy of the attendance certificate.

To summarize, no parent can volunteer with the students in any capacity without submitting a background check and attending Virtus training.

Please check www.virtus.org for a list of training sessions being held in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. You must register online to attend a workshop.

Please note the Parent Portal url has changed.  The new web address is https://drvcpowerschool.org

We will be happy to share our school with you and answer any questions you may have about your child's first school experience.  We look forward to seeing you!  If the published dates for registration do not work for you, please contact the school office.

Parents are reminded to review safety policies with their children.  No adult should ever follow them in a car or speak to them.

Come see the wonderful things going on at Notre Dame School!

Our Video Conference Center continues to be a busy place this year!  Last year our pre-K students enjoyed a visit to some Arctic animals at the Buffalo Zoo to highlight a recent unit. They also participated in a conference about Dinosaurs.   Our students were privileged to be a part of a nation-wide video-conference with Mrs. Barbara Bush.  One of our students, Emma Rasheed, was selected to ask Mrs. Bush a question!  Our 8th graders participated in a conference entirely in Spanish.  They also participated in a webinar highlighting the contributions of African-Americans during WWII.  Grade 6 scheduled a conference on the Titanic and Grade 5 participated in a conference on ecosystems.  Grade 7 participated in a conference on Spanish Art from the Smithsonian Institution and K learned about the life cycle of butterflies.  Grade 8 was spellbound as a Holocaust survivor told his story.  Many other conferences are planned for the school year 2013-2014--please join us when your child has a conference scheduled.  Our students and teachers are busy adding to their knowledge through these interactions.

Notre Dame School is on the forefront of technology.  Our students are using iPads for research as well as other classroom activities.  The number of educational apps is astounding and our teachers and students are certainly enjoying this technology.  Thanks to the "Stand-Up" Portion of our Auction, we were able to purchase additional iPads, bringing the total number to thirty-two!  Our building is wireless, so students are able to use the laptop carts and iPads in their classrooms!

Please follow the link below to view our FutureCorps story for this school year.  We are so proud of our students and their generous hearts!

Parents are reminded to check their child's recent progress on PowerGrade.  We will not be issuing paper progress reports.  Any questions, please email your child's teacher directly.  Below you will find a link with directions.

From the Principal

Things are very busy in the hallways of Notre Dame School! The boys and girls are busy with their classes and learning new things.  Our enrollment is healthy.  We have more than 440 students this year, with two sections of each grade.  Our smallest citizens are enjoying life at Notre Dame.  They are using the playgrounds, having lunch in the cafeteria and learning to take turns.  Many thanks to those families who recommended Notre Dame School to a friend or neighbor.

Please keep our Early Childhood program in mind.  Our registration for both our Pre-K and Nursery program is healthy.  Perhaps your friend or neighbor is looking around for a wonderful Pre-K or Nursery  program.  Inquiries may be directed to our school office. Open Houses have been scheduled--please check the calendar.

Our students enjoy the latest in technology--we currently have 45 iPads in use.  Students enjoy video conferences which enhance their understanding of their classroom curriculum.  A popular destination is the Buffalo Zoo, along with many museums and Science Centers. Grade 7 viewed Sacred Art and learned about the Lewis and Clark expedition, while Grade 8 enjoyed conferences on both World Wars I and II in the spring.  With the weather changing, teachers have begun to plan class trips and the children are excited to be playing outside in the playgrounds!  Grade 6 traveled to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and K and Grade 1 will visit the Queens Farm.  Grade 5 visited the Central Park Zoo and all classes are eagerly anticipating the annual school picnic!

Remember--wouldn't it be terrific if every family brought a family?

God's blessings on you and your family!

Thank you for choosing Notre Dame School.
